Indian PM Modi to be conferred with the Order of the rule of Izzudeen

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be conferred with 'the Order of Nishan Izzudeen', President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided.

Nishan Izzuddin is the highest award of the nation given to any foreign national.

While the Indian PM is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives on a two-day state visit on Saturday afternoon, the President's Office revealed that the Order will be presented to PM Modi at a special ceremony held at the President's Office on Saturday evening.

The award is being presented to Narendra Modi for his efforts in strengthening the age-old friendship between India and Maldives, and in recognition of the assistance that the Indian government continues to provide to the archipelago under the Prime Minister's leadership.

The country is currently preparing to welcome PM Modi on his arrival in the country this afternoon. The two-day state visit is the Prime Minister's first trip abroad after his astounding victory in the Indian general elections, securing a second term as the Prime Minister.
