Family of missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan has called for criminal investigations against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Didi to be pursued by the presidential commission on Murders and Enforced Disappearances.
During the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)'s investigative meeting on the disciplinary cases raised against the top court judge, a police report had revealed that Judge Didi was accused of being linked to Rilwan's disappearance.
The report said the police had evidence that two arrested suspects involved in Rilwan's disappearance were released on the judge's orders. A man known to be involved in crime, 'suspect 1' was in contact with the judge via text message to mediate the release of the two arrested individuals, tand soon after, the two suspects were released on the judge's orders, who ruled that there was no reason to detain the individuals, the report read.
It is believed that 'suspect 1' refers to former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
