ACC president resigns from post

President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Hassan Luthufee has resigned from his post.

His resignation comes while the parliament's committee on Independent Institutions approved to dismiss him from his post on Tuesday.

Spokesperson of the President's Office Ibrahim Hood confirmed to AVAS that Luthufee's letter of resignation was mailed to the President's Office on Tuesday.

The parliament committee made the decision to dismiss Luthufee for his failure to report to official duties for the past two months.

A letter sent by the ACC to the parliament read that Luthufee last reported to work on February 6. While he was on leave until 14th April, and has not reported back to work after his vacation.

Luthufee was appointed at the president of the Anti-Corruption Commission on 13th October 2010.
