Maldives Customs Service's statistics have revealed a decline in amount of goods imported and exported by Maldives in June 2019.
Customs statistics show that merchandise worth MVR 3.3 million were imported during June while goods worth MVR 3.5 million were imported during the same period last year. The numbers show a decline of 5% in amount of goods imported during June.
While goods worth MVR 113 million were exported last June, the amount of goods exported during June this year was 7% lower compared to the previous year, with goods worth MVR 104 million being exported this June.
However, the income received by the state increased by 13% compared to the previous year, with the state generating an income of MVR 266 million compared to MVR 235 million generated during the same period last year.
According to the statistics, 19% of imported merchandise in June were brought from China and UAE, while 42% of exports were to Germany.
