Police urge to be cautious during sea travel

Maldives Police Service have urged travelers to be cautious during sea travel.

Police asked all travelers to get the most recent updates on weather forecast before traveling, as Maldives Meteorological Services has predicted torrential rain, thunderstorm and rough seas.

Police urged all vessels to ensure that all safety measures are in place before traveling, and to check if radio devices and other communication devices are functioning properly. They also urged not to carry more passengers that the permitted limit.

The police also asked to ensure that vessels are moored properly to avoid accidents due to changes in current.

Several incidents have occurred on sea due to bad weather over the past two days and the police have been providing their assistance.
