Sri Lankan PM to undertake official visit to Maldives

The government has announced that Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremasinghe will be undertaking an official visit to the Maldives next month.

The President's Office on Tuesday said PM Wickremasinghe is scheduled to arrive in Maldives on 2nd September, on the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. PM Wickremasinghe will be accompanied by his spouse Professor Maithree Wickremasinghe and a delegation of high level officials including four cabinet ministers.

During the visit, the two leaders will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Maldives and Sri Lanka, and will explore new areas for cooperation, including global matters of mutual importance.

The Prime Minister will also be chairing the Indian Ocean Conference scheduled to take place from 3rd to 4th September at Paradise Island Resort. The Indian Ocean Conference is organized by India Foundation in association with the Government of Maldives and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore.
