A 12% increase has been recorded in tourist arrivals in August 2019.
According to statistics publicized by the Tourism Ministry, 139,338 tourists visited the Maldives during August this year. This is a 12% increment compared to the same period last year.
While a total of 1.13 million tourist visited the Maldives by end of August, this number is a hike of 16.6% compared to the same period in 2018.
The Ministry's report reveals that the largest tourism market is from the United State and Europe, with a 25% increase in tourists arriving from both markets. While 49,731 tourist beds have been registered, 46,145 tourist beds are currently operational.
