First-ever halal tourism conference to be held this month

Mahaldheeb Foundation's 'Platform for Ingenuity and Enlightenment {PIE)' and Islamic University of Maldives' Student Union are organizing the first ever Halal Tourism Conference in the Maldives.

Named 'Engage the Untapped', the conference will be held next Saturday. Experts on Halal tourism will be speaking at the conference, and information will be given on introducing Halal tourism to an Islamic country such as Maldives,.

'PIE' informed that this conference is specially targeted towards those working in the tourism industry and tourism students, and those interested in entering the halal tourism field.

Islamic Tourism market is a growing market segment, with Muslim tourists seeking destinations which meet their needs, in terms of diet, dress or rituals. While it is estimated that a profit of over US$ 220 billion will be made by the halal tourism sector next year, the revenue is expected to reach US$ 300 billion by 2026.

Although Islamic Tourism market is growing across the globe, Maldives is yet to introduce Halal tourism.
