New Sri Lankan Ambassador presents credentials

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has received and accepted credentials presented by the New Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, Kohono Walawe at a special ceremony held Wednesday morning at the President’s Office.

Following the credentials ceremony, the new Ambassador called on the President to discuss the forward path for bilateral relations between the two countries, said the President's Office.

The Ambassador expressed his joy at taking up his new post and expressed his keenness to build on the work of his predecessors to further strengthen the already excellent relations between the two countries.

In the President’s remarks, he returned the same warm sentiments and commented on the enduring goodwill, and excellent diplomatic cooperation, between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

He congratulated Ambassador Walawe on taking up his diplomatic posting and expressed that his administration stands ready to do all it can to improve cooperation on bilateral and multilateral issues of common interest between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, said the President's Office.

Ending the call, the President expressed his full confidence that the new ambassador will do an excellent job in executing his new responsibilities, and wished him luck as he takes up his new diplomatic posting.
