Maldives represented at 34th session of UPR

The Maldives delegation has actively participated at the 34th Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

The session concluded at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on Friday. The session continued for a period of two weeks from 4 - 15 November 2019.

Foreign Ministry said the Maldives delegation presented constructive recommendations to 10 States reviewed at the Session. The Maldives delegation provided recommendations to Italy, El Salvador, Gambia, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Fiji, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Slovenia, Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Maldives was represented at the UPR Session by the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Hala Hameed, Deputy Permanent Representative Hawla Ahmed Didi, and First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Maldives to United Nations Office at Geneva Shahiya Ali Manik .

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a process which involves a review of the human rights records of all UN Member States.
