India to adapt Maldivian-style water villa concept in their resorts

India is looking to adapt Maldivian water villa concept in their resorts.

India said they are preparing to begin a water villa project in the lagoons of Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Lakshadweep and Andaman are islands that are part of India. India will be investing US$ 200 million to expand the tourism in these islands. Water villas similar to those in high end Maldivian resorts will be built in the islands.

Under this project airports, floating jetties and helipad will be constructed in Lakshadweep and Andaman. Floating jetties will be build just like those at Maldives resorts.

Indian government is working to put the plans into action before the end of this year. The EIA report of the area that will be developed has already been completed.

Over a million toursts have visited India thus far this year. However, the amount of money spent by tourists visiting India have decreased in the past few years, decreasing the revenue generated by tourism.

Maldivian resort concept has been adapted by two other countries as well. They are China and Dubai.
