Two individuals to be charged in connection to three high-profile murders

The Presidential Commission Investigating Murders and Enforced Disappearances has forwarded the names of two suspects for prosecution.

The commission requested the Prosecutor's General Office to charge Mohamed Mazeed and Samith Mohamed. The commission has named both individuals as extremists.

The commission requested to charge the two individuals in connection to the seperate murders of former MP Dr. Afrashim Ali, journalist Ahmed Rilwan and blogger Yameen Rasheed.

According to a report prepared by the presidential commission, both Mazeed and Samith belong to an extremist organization that funds the propagation of extremist ideologies.

This is the first time the presidential commission is seeking charges against a person.
