The perpetrator who attempted to enter Maldives with a fake passport has been arrested.
Maldives Immigration revealed today that the 31-year old expatriate had sought to come through Velana International Airport (VIA). The nationality, and further details on the individual have not yet been revealed. However, a picture of him was publicized on Twitter, with his mouth and eyes blurred out.
Those attempting to enter the country under false pretenses have recently increased. While one was arrested last month, three were arrested in October, and 11 in September.
Immigration revealed that they are collaborating with the government and relevant authorities to put a stop to such acts through anti human trafficking efforts and strengthening the Border Policy.
