No change in police alert status

The Police has said that there is no change in their alert status.

In an interview given to AVAS, Police’s Chief Spokesperson said that even though MNDF’s alert level is increased there is no change in their alert status.

However, since the past two weeks, there had been an increase in the reports of mugging, and to reduce the crimes for the upcoming new year they have started an operation.

In the operation, the public will be stopped and questioned and vessels will be stopped and checked.

The MNDF has increased its alert level to “alert2” from 19 hours on Tuesday. MNDF’s “alert2” is upon foreseeing that the national security might be at threat. However, no further information is provided since this is about national security.

From Tuesday night onward MNDF has been stopping and checking sea vessels.

MNDF’s alert level is increased to ensure the safety and security of the public and the nation and they are confident that they will receive full support from the public.
