Maldives Immigration has introduced a service where citizens can apply for passports via island councils.
Immigration said they have introduced the service dubbed 'Rashun' under the decentralization policy of the administration to allow for application and issuance of Maldivian passports from island councils. The service has already been commenced in Thaa atoll in collaboration with the island and atoll council, said Immigration.
Currently, citizens can apply for passports at Veymandoo council of Thaa atoll. The passport will be issued within two days of application, said Immigration.
