To commence parliament’s new term for the new year, the Presidential Address of President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih is slated for 3rd February 2020.
The President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Hood said that the Presidential Address is scheduled for 3rd February 2020 in the parliament and that it is marked as a public holiday.
This is the 2nd Presidential Address of President Salih. The ceremony is held to mark a new term of the parliament. In that regard, the plans of the government for the whole year will be highlighted.
The opening ceremony of parliament's new term is customarily held in the Parliament House in the Maldives. However, from 2017 it has been changed. In 2017 the ceremony was held in Dharubaaruge besides it is unknown where it will be held this year.
