Hulhumale' Hospital handed over to Male' Hospitals governing board

The management of Hulhumale' Hospital has been transferred to the governing board of Male' Hospitals.

A press statement issued by the hospital said the transfer was made at the directive of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, effective from January 1, 2020.

With this change, all three government hospitals in the Male' region including Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male' and Villimale Hospital are being managed by the Male' Hospitals governing board.

While the state-owned Aasandha Company was previously managing the hospital, the change in management will not interrupt any services provided at the hospital, assured the hospital. Although Aasandha Company no longer manages the hospital, Aasandha Health Scheme services will still be available at the hospital similar to other government hospitals, said the statement.

"All ongoing projects to further develop the hospital, and future projects will be carried out according to plan without interruption," the statement further read.

Aasandha Company took over management of Hulhumale’ Hospital on 3rd April 2016. The company spent MVR 193 million to develop Hulhumale’ Hospital and brought significant changes. The hospital commenced cancer treatment under the management of Aasandha.

Previously in 2018, the President's Office transferred the management of Hulhumale' Hospital to the Health Ministry. However, the management of the hospital was later handed back to Aasandha Company.
