Ministry of Tourism have decided to establish safety boards and life guards at the swimming zones of residential islands.
An announcement released by the Ministry stated that the initiative was taken under a "Water Safety" program launched in collaboration with the Police and MNDF in order to secure Maldives as a peaceful destination for tourists and residents.
The announcement further stated that 19 islands with 100 tourist beds were initially set to establish 'Beach Scouts'. Furthermore, interested parties will be able to submit their applications starting today (MOnday).

Swimmers will be briefed on weather conditions and safety measures, and monitored on those standards. Moreover first aid help will also be provided.
