Maldives commences coronavirus awareness programme for public

The health ministry has instigated an awareness programme for the public on the precautionary measures taken in the Maldives to combat novel-coronavirus pandemic that is escalating across the globe.

The programme was inaugurated on Monday – it will be carried on all the atolls of the Maldives. The health authority said that the programme was conducted in more than 150 islands thus far and continuing in some atolls and resort hotels even now.

The Maldives health authorities have been working jointly, including hospitals and health centres to prevent the virus outbreak.

The government revealed on Monday that the suspected cases' test results came negative. The authorities isolated those who came from China to ensure they are not infected with the virus.

In addition, the Maldives has barred the arrival of foreigners from China to the Maldives.
