Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi listed among most romantic holiday destinations

Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has been listed among top ten most romantic holiday destinations of the year.

Ithaafushi was ranked at the top of the 'The 10 Sexiest Private Island Resorts of 2020' list compiled by 'Brides' magazine, a publication targeted towards women.

The other destinations included in the list are resorts in Seychelles, Bahamas, Indonesia, Montenegro, Fiji, Antigua, Madagascar, Cambodia, and Turks and Caicos.

In the list, the resort opened in 2019 was described as an 'over-the-top luxury' island. It stated that the island had a wide array of dining options, and that holidaymakers will find it hard to choose a dining venue due to the variety of cuisines available at its ten in-house restaurants. It also mentioned the Spa Pavilion on the island that offered 'rhythmic massages under the Maldivian stars'.

The island's Terra Treetop Restaurant was recently listed by CNN as one of the world's top water front restaurants. The restaurant, specialised for private dinners, is designed in such a way that a 'bird's view' of the whole island can be witnessed from the restaurant.

Ithafushi was developed by reclaiming a lagoon adjoining three islands. The resort features 130 bedrooms, ten restaurants and cafes, in addition to a spa featuring ten treatment villas. The island also boasts sea-sports facilities, and a romantic wedding pavilion for marriage ceremonies and other functions.

CNN has also listed Ithaafushi among the best 14 resorts of the Maldives. The resort was featured on the cover page of the magazine ‘Cond’ Nast Traveler Middle East. The resort was developed by a prominent middle-eastern businessman and local businessman Mohamed Ali Janah.

Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi resort is located 30-minutes away from the country's main airport, Velana International Airport (VIA). The resort is operated by world-famous hotel brand Hilton. The brand has managed luxury resorts in the Maldives, including Manafaru Resort under its most luxurious brand Waldorf Astoria.
