Two Maldivians arriving from China quarantined

Two Maldivians who arrived in Maldives from China have been quarantined.

The Health Ministry said the two people have not exhibited any signs of the COVID19 coronavirus, however, they are being quarantined as an added precaution as they had recently been to China, where the virus orginated and has been rapidly spreading.

While no confirmed cases of COVID19 have been detected in the Maldives, any persons returning from China will be quarantined for a period of 14 days. The government has suspended all direct inbound flights from China as a preventive measure.

The test for COVID19 can now be done in the Maldives. Over 80,000 people have been infected by the virus across the globe, and the death toll is above 2500.
