The government has revealed the nationalities of those infected with the COVID-19 virus in the Maldives.
During a press conference held Monday, COVID-19 Spokesperson for the government, Mabrook Azeez said all 13 people who tested positive for the virus in the Maldives are foreigners.
Their nationalities are as follows:
Italian: 9
Turkish: 1
South African: 1
German: 1
UK: 1
The government previously withheld information about the infected patients to protect their identities and personal information. The Spokesperson had previously said if the location along with the nationality of a patient is revealed, identifying the patient will become extremely easy for the public.
While the nationalities were revealed on Monday, their locations were not specified.
Mabrook further detailed that the infected patients include six men and seven women.
Two people at Anantara Dhigu Resort, five people from Kuredu Island Resort, two people from Sandies Bathala Resort, two people from Kuramathi Island Resort and two people on Island Safari have tested positive for the virus thus far. No locals have tested for the virus to date.
The State of Public Health Emergency have been declared in the Maldives for a period of 30 days.
