National carrier to temporarily halt operating to India

National carrier Maldivian has announced its decision to temporarily suspend their flights to India.

India has banned all incoming international flights starting Sunday for a period of one week due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The country has already suspended the visas of all incoming tourists and barred passengers of flights from the European Union, the European Free Trade Association, Turkey and the United Kingdom as a preventive measure against COVID-19.

Maldivian on Friday said India's Civil Aviation has informed the final date that international flights will be allowed to land at Indian Airports to be March 22. Therefore, the airline will temporarily suspend its flights to India effective from March 21, said Maldivian.
