Male' City Council will begin disinfecting the capital city on Monday as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
An announcement issued by the City Council said the council will be working with Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) to disinfect Male' City. The council further said old or damaged wooden pallets laid on the roads will also be removed.
13 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives thus far.
The government has declared the State of Public Health Emergency, and stringent measures have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus. In this regard, public spaces, restaurants and cinemas have been closed, and the daily congregational prayers have been temporarily halted.
