ACC to investigate corruption allegations in COVID-19 related matters

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has stated that they are looking into the allegations that some government authorities are involved in corruption while performing the tasks related to COVID-19.

A statement issued by ACC on Monday stated that they have noted the public has numerous concerns on the services being provided the government amid COVID-19 pandemic. To eliminate any corruption involved in providing the services regarding COVID-19, ACC has been discussing concerns with the relevant authorities, said the commission. ACC further said, they have initiated investigations the issues based on the concerns raised on social media and other mediums.

Some people have questioned the way the ventilators are being procured for the Maldives which will be used in the intensive care units established for the CONID-19, among other issues. ACC has urged to file complaints along with evidence if there is corruption involved in the work work being carried out in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. ACC has assured that it will not hesitate to perform its mandated duty.
