National Bank announces top five proposals for community fund

Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday announced the five winning proposals of the first quarter to provide funds under “Aharenge Bank Community Fund”.

BML said funds would be transferred to five parties who won among the individuals and NGOs that submitted proposals wishing to implement sustainable projects in the islands.

Among the selected proposals include a proposal to develop a community park in Sh. Kanditheem, a proposal to develop the school library of Aa. Rasdhoo, and a proposal on developing a picnic area in Th.Veymandoo beach area. Additionally, a proposal on developing a skate park in Gdh. Vaadhoo and a proposal to develop a park for elderly people in S. Feydhoo were also selected among the top 5 proposals.

The Public Relation Manager of BML Mohamed Saeed said even though some challenges were faced in continuing the projects under “Aharenge Bank Community Fund" due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the aim is to provide assistance for 20 community projects this year, as was the case last year.

BML said MVR 50,000 will be allocated for each project under the community fund. The projects should be in the areas of education, environment, sports, and community development. The proposals will be collected over three phases this year; five winning proposals will be selected in phase one and phase two while 10 winning proposals will be selected in phase 3.
