Tourism Ministry has announced that the pre-bid meeting for the development of a yacht marina, city hotel in Ha. Uligamu will be held on October 22.
The Tourism Ministry said information regarding the bid will be given at the pre-bid meeting. The bid documents will be available for download from the ministry’s website from October 11, and bid proposals must be submitted by November 5.
A tourist development project was previously initiated in Uligamu island. The project was awarded to Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). Although some amount of work was carried out under the project, the development of a city hotel did not transpire.
While a development project has been announced for the south, the former administration also announced a mega-development project named iHavan targeting the south. However, the project could not be successfully implemented. The current government is developing the Hanimaadhoo Airport under a Line of Credit facility extended by the Indian government.
