A committee has been formed to investigate disciplinary issues of three judges.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Tuesday said it decided in its 79th sitting to establish a committee to look into several disciplinary issues of three judges. The magistrates being investigated are Ahmed Akram from Gn. Fuvahmulah Magistrate Court, Ali Adam from HDh. Kulhudhuffushi Magistrate Court, Chief Magistrate of Th. Kandoodhoo Magistrate Court, Ali Shareef.
JSC is investigating allegations that Judge Ahmed Akram delayed a case for a duration longer than generally acceptable, while Ali Adam is being investigated for forming an organization and playing an active role in planning and carrying out activities of said organization. Ali Shareef took part in protests and is said to have expressed opinions on social media, and is accused of carrying more than the permitted amount of children on a motorbike.
