Foreign Minister meets with the Secretary General of Muslim World League

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid met with the Secretary General of Muslim World League, Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, in Riyadh, on Thursday.

During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Secretary General Dr. Al-Issa discussed the history of close cooperation and constructive collaboration between Maldives and the Muslim World League. Minister Shahid also touched on the ongoing King Salman Mosque Project, based on the generous assistance from The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, highlighting that once the mosque is opened, it will be the largest in the country and would stand as a symbol of the brotherly relations between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

Minister Shahid and Secretary General Dr. Al-Issa also conversed regarding the opening of an office of the Muslim World League in the Maldives, as well as the establishment of a regional anti-terrorism centre in the Maldives.

At the meeting, Minister Shahid also made note of the commendable work undertaken by the Secretary General to further the organization’s mission to spread the peaceful and harmonious message of Islam, and promote the moderate values presented in the Quran and Sunnah, resulting in the strengthening of Islam’s positive influence around the world.

Minister Shahid was accompanied by Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Khaleel.
