Speaker of the Parliament and former president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the work of the Parliament has slowed down due to delays in receiving bills from the government.
The Attorney General sends a list of bills proposed by the government for each new session of the Parliament at the beginning of the session. While the list of bills has been sent to the parliament, Nasheed voiced concern on delays in receiving the actual bills for the parliament to work on. He called on the Attorney General to send the draft bills to the parliament at the earliest.
The parliament is expected to work on 33 bills during the current session. This includes 15 new bills.
