The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has disclosed that a 45-year old man who was administered the COVISHIELD vaccine has passed away.
According to HPA, the health of a fisherman from Aa. Maalhos who received the vaccine on his island on Monday deteriorated while out at sea on Tuesday. He was taken to Himmafushi Heath Centre where he passed away on Tuesday morning while receiving treatment. HPA said a full investigation is being carried out as per protocol to confirm the cause of death, and said the details will be shared once the investigation is completed.
HPA noted that serious events including death can occur after vaccination, and may not be related to the vaccine.
