Second dose of vaccine to be administered at four centres

The second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered at four centers, the Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has stated.

The Maldives began its COVID-19 vaccine program on February 1st, and is due to commence the administration of the second dose on April 3. Vaccines will be given at the Social Centre, National Art Gallery, Hulhumale' Flu Clinic and VilliMale' Youth Centre. HEOC has requested the public to bring the vaccine card as well as ID card, passport or driving license when coming to get the second shot.

The Maldives used the COVISHIELD vaccine during the first round of vaccine administration, and is currently using China's Sinopharm vaccine for the second round. HEOC previously announced that the second dose of the COVISHIELD vaccine will be given eight weeks after the first shot is given, and that the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine will be administered four weeks after the initial shot.

241,127 people have received the first shot of the vaccines thus far. The government has advice the public to get their first shot prior to the Holy month of Ramadan.
