Travel between islands to be allowed to vote in council election

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has informed the Elections Commission that voters can travel between islands to cast their vote for the upcoming local council election.

The President of the Elections Commision, Ahmed Shareef Adam Saturday said HPA has relayed to the commission that voters in the atolls can travel between islands for voting purposes. Those who need to travel to islands where HPA’s monitoring mechanisms are in place can also travel to the island for voting purposes by making arrangemens via the islands’ task forces.

However, those in resorts will not be allowed to travel to islands to cast their vote. Vote boxes will be placed in 137 resorts for the council elections scheduled for April 10th.
