The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has extended the operational hours of vaccination centers.
HPA had previously announced that the operational hours of vaccine centers will from from 9 pm until 11 pm during the month of Ramadan. However, due to the high turnout for vaccines, the vaccination centers will now remain open from 9 pm until 11:45 pm, said HPA.
The Maldives commenced its COVID-19 vaccine program on February 1st, and is currently on its second round of vaccinations. While AstraZeneca's COVISHIELD vaccine manufactured in India was used during the first round, China's Sinopharm vaccine is being used in the second round. Vaccine administration will take place at seven centers, and the second dose of the COVISHIELD vaccine will be administered at six of the centers. The first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine will be administered only at Treetop Hospital in Hulhumale'.
