Neeloafaru Hingun pedestrianized due to security concerns

Male' City Council has prohibited vehicle parking on Neelofaru Hingun where Parliament Speaker and former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed's residence is located. The decision was made as a security measure after an IED blast critically injured the speaker on May 6.

Male' City Council arranged parking space on the grounds of G. Billoorijehige as an alternative parking space for the spots on Neelofaru Hingun. An official from the City Council said Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) had requested to pedestrianize parking on Neelofaru Hingun, and that the request was approved by the Planning Ministry.
