COVID-19: Single-day record in deaths

The Maldives reported a single-day record of 13 COVID-19 deaths on Monday.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 1,417 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday out of which 1,097 cases were from the Greater Male' Region. 320 cases were reported from the atolls, including resorts. This increases the country's tally to 57,341 out of which 24,057 cases are active.

HPA said 282 people are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment. Out of these, 16 are in the Intensive Care Unit, and eight are on ventilator support. 13 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, increasing the archipelagos' toll to 142.

69 deaths have been recorded thus far this month compared to 51 deaths recorded between March and December 2020.
