The Maldives on Saturday reported 1,062 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 699 cases were recorded from the Greater Male' Region while 362 cases were reported from the atolls, including resorts. This increases the archipelago's tally to 62,902, out of which 24,507 cases are active at this time. 240 people are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.
Two deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours increasing the country's toll to 157. 80 deaths have been recorded thus far this month compared to 51 deaths recorded between March and December 2020.
