Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has stated that the cargo ferry services between Maldives and India remains uninterrupted.
The ferry service between the two neighbouring countries, ‘Cochin Ferry’ commenced on September 28 last year. However, rumors that the service has come to a stop have been circulating on multiple platforms.
Referring to the rumors, MPL said the ferry service is still ongoing and that a large number of containers are shipped to Maldives via the ferry service. One or two ferries arrive in the Maldives from India every month, said MPL.
MPL added that 309 containers were offloaded from the ferries to different ports across Maldives over the past three months. 2,624.47 tonnes of general cargo were brought in the containers.
