The police have arrested the motorcycle driver who fled the scene after being involved in a deadly accident last Saturday.
A young man was killed in Saturday's accident after a speeding motorcycle crashed into a handcart parked in a narrow road of capital Male. The 22-year old victim was a passenger on the backseat of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle fled the scene shortly after the accident, and his whereabouts had remained unknown for the past few days.
The police on Tuesday said a 26 year old local man believed to be the driver of the vehicle was arrested on Monday afternoon. Investigation is ongoing, the police confirmed.
