The body of the 13-year old murder victim killed last week will likely be sent to India for a postmortem sometime this week, Maldives Police Service has said.
The young boy, who was first reported as kidnapped, was found murdered in the beach area of reclaimed suburbs Hulhumale' on June 22. His body is currently in the mortuary while arrangements are being made for the autopsy to be conducted. The police said they are working on transporting the body to India sometime this week.
A 17-year-old and a 27-year-old local have been arrested in connection to the murder. Both suspects are said to be friends of the victim. While the police have not provided details on the case, the Parliament and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives are also investigating the case.
