50 percent of eligible population fully vaccinated

The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has announced that over 50 percent of those eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives have received both doses of the vaccine.

All COVID-19 vaccines currently in the market are targeted for those above the age of 18, while the Pfizer vaccine is administered to those above the age of 16 under special circumstances.

HEOC Wednesday said 50 percent of the target population have received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives. The spokesperson of the center, Dr. Fathmath Nazla Rafeeq described the development as a huge achievement.

319,712 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 thus far while 246,841 people have completed both doses of the vaccine. 4,471 people completed the second dose over the last 24 hours while 334 people received the initial dose of the vaccine.
