Maldives to halt COVID-19 vaccine program during Eid holidays

The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has stated that COVID-19 vaccine administration will be temporarily suspended during the upcoming Eid holidays.

Speaking at a press conference held Wednesday, HEOC's Spokesperson, Dr. Fathmath Nazla Rafeeq said the vaccine program will be halted on July 17. She said the date on which the program will resume has not been finalized yet.

The Maldives uses three different vaccines in its COVID-19 vaccine program. They are Serum Institute of India's COVISHIELD vaccine, China's Sinopharm vaccine, and the Pfizer vaccine. The Maldives has fully vaccinated over 50 percent of the eligible population.
