Pres calls to prioritize inclusivity, social harmony

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended his sincere and warm felicitations to all Maldivian citizens on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha, 1442.

In his written message published Monday evening, President Solih called on all members of the public to celebrate Eid al-Adha in the spirit of familial bonding and fellowship.

President Solih noted that, as with the previous year, the country is celebrating the Eid holidays as the entire world struggles against the global COVID-19 pandemic. Both Eid holidays that Muslims commemorate each year are celebrations blessed with an atmosphere of unity, kindness, and kinship, the President said, and the people must give the utmost precedence to ensure that they prioritize inclusivity and social harmony as they celebrate the holy day.

Speaking further regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the nation, President Solih acknowledged that it had taken a toll on the daily lives of the people. He stated it is now more important than ever to ensure that familial relationships remain strong and friendships and peer relationships flourish. He urged the public to embody the essence of Eid al-Adha by extending greetings to each other and projecting kindness and forbearance, especially to the elders of the families.

In his message, the President also extended his greetings to all Muslims at Mecca for the Holy Pilgrimage, praying that their pilgrimages be accepted by Allah Almighty. He also extended warm sentiments to all kindred members of the Muslim Ummah on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha.
