Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated that three months is not an adequate period to complete the finishing works of the Hiyaa flats.
The government has said a three-month rent-free period will be granted to Hiyaa flat recipients to complete the finishing works of the flats. This includes tiling, painting, installation of lights, fans, doors, and kitchen cabinets.
Muizzu said the City Council has requested the government in official writing to provide a period of at least 9 months for flat recipients to complete pending finishing works. He voiced concern that no decision to extend the three-period has not been taken thus far, and questioned why the government continues to give a deaf ear to the plights of the people. He assured that the City Council would continue to request an extension for the rent-free period.
