Over 80 percent of tourism employees completes COVID-19 vaccination

Over 80 percent of tourism workers in the Maldives have completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Tourism Ministry initiated a campaign under the name 'I am Vaccinated' in a bid to vaccinate the tourism industry workforce. The program was launched on February 5. Over 97 percent of tourism employees have received the first dose of the vaccine thus far, while the Tourism Ministry's latest statistics show 80 percent of tourism workers in the Maldives have completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, it is not clear whether this number includes those employed at the Tourism Minnisry.

The Maldives began its nationwide COVID-19 vaccine program on February 1. According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s statistics, the Maldives has thus far vaccinated over 72.97 percent of the eligible population with the first dose of vaccinations and 59.07 percent with the second dose.
