Home Minister tests positive for COVID-19

Maldives' Home Minister, Imran Abdulla has tested positive for COVID-19.

Minister Imran was tested for the virus after he developed symptoms of COVID-19, and the results came back positive on Thursday. He has completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

High ranking government officials have tested positive for the virus in the past, including Vice President Faisal Naseem, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed. The Maldives has recorded 77,202 positive cases thus far, and 2,541 cases are active at this time. The country has registered 220 COVID-19 deaths to date.
