Only vaccinated tourists can check in to guest houses in the Greater Male' Area, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said.
HPA made the decision to allow only vaccinated tourists in Male' City guesthouses as the vaccine coverage in the city has not reached the adequate target. Vaccination is considered complete if 14 days have passed after receiving the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
In addition to Male' City guesthouses, only fully vaccinated tourists will be allowed to check in to guest houses in inhabited islands. Other tourists may check in to guesthouses on inhabited islands if the following requirements are met with regard to the island's vaccine coverage:
- 60 percent of the island population have been fully vaccinated
- 95 percent of those employed at tourism establishments have completed the vaccine
- 90 percent of the elderly population above the age of 65 have completed the vaccine
Unvaccinated tourists who travel to these islands must undergo a PCR test 7 days from the date of check-in.
