Maldives Reform Movement (MRM)'s congress - its National Convention - has been scheduled for October 2.
The party's council made the decision to hold the congress in October during a council sitting held Wednesday.
Speaking to AVAS regarding the congress, MRM's founder and former President of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom said the party's President and Vice President will be elected during the congress. Appointments will be made to other key posts of the party as well, he added.
Maumoon said 150 representatives from across the Maldives will be participating in the congress. Submissions are now open for those interested in being representatives.
MRM is the third party to be formed by President Maumoon. The party was created after factions formed within the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), which forced Maumoon to leave the party he founded.
