Two additional islands have been added to the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s monitoring list.
HPA on Saturday closed S. Hulhumeedhoo and R. Rasmaadhoo after COVID-19 cases were identied on the islands. The total number of islands where HPA's monitoring mechanisms have been activated is now at 23.
The number of COVID-19 cases being identified in the atolls have been increasing over the past weeks. While 179 positive cases were recorded across Maldives on Friday, 120 cases were from the atolls. The number of cases being recorded in the capital are significantly lower when compared to the atolls.
