165 candidates contesting in main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s National Congress Elections have secured their seats without a vote.
MDP's internal elections are scheduled to be held on September 25. The party has publicized its final list of contestants. In the list, 165 contestants who are running uncontested, and therefore are automatically elected, were highlighted.
730 candidates will be vying for 455 spots in the election. 300 ballot boxes will be placed across Maldives and 900 officials will be involved in the election process.
MDP has 93,354 registered members.
